Spring in Hokkaido is Coming

Recently the snow has stopped falling as often and the temperatures have started to climb just a little, which in my opinion means Spring is coming. Last year in 2024 the Spring did not arrive until later April as there was still snow fall into late March. So i’m a little curious to see if we will have a late or early Spring.

The weather during Spring is pretty nice, with some rain. Although from a puppy owner aspect, its miserable! Their paws become muddy and the ground becomes nice and horrid! But it’s all part of life. The nice part is we can use our water hose again to clean them before coming inside.

It’ll also be Cherry Blossom season soon in some parts of Japan, I think earliest is the 15th or so of March in the lower hemisphere. Then it’s expected that in April sometime probably towards the end that Hokkaido will get its first blossoms.

That is also another magical time for us here. To see the trees go from barren nothingness to full blown pink bushes are just nice. We have four trees on our property, two in the front and two in the back. The puppies like to play under the tree in the back.

I think when we find our new home, we will take a cutting from each of these trees and plant it there to bring part of HOkkaido with us. After all its where the puppies were born and where we lose our mama dog…. So in a lot of ways Hokkaido has a lot of meaning for us.

So we shall see what the future holds for us and what and when Spring brings!
