Hotel Prices in Japan

I’m not sure if its due to over tourism or what but the average price of hotels have increased in Tokyo over the last few months. I have to go to Tokyo this coming week to meet our mother and accompany her to some doctor appointments. But i’m going to be flying in a little earlier a few days and wanted to get a hotel room to stay at.

After searching for some time I’ve found that the prices of the hotels I normally stay at have increased by about 70%. Needless to say that kind of increase affects a lot of people so i’m hoping it’s just because of something like an event or something. But we shall see.

Luckily I had saved some reward points over the last couple of years and used them to kind of offset the price of the actual stay. So i’m happy with that but a little sad as I was planning on using the points for something else or rather at a later date. But it is what it is.

Have you seen an increase in hotel prices lately? Or am I just the being crazy.
